THE ITIL FOUNDATION CERTIFICATE IN IT SERVICE MANAGEMENT

The purpose of the ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management is to certify that the candidate has gained knowledge of the ITIL terminology, structure and basic concepts and has comprehended the core principles of ITIL practices for service management.

The ITIL Foundation certificate in IT Service Management is not intended to enable the holders of the certificate to apply the ITIL practices for service management without further guidance.

Purpose of the Foundation Qualification

The purpose of the Foundation qualification is to confirm that a candidate has sufficient knowledge and understanding of the PRINCE2 method to be able to work effectively with, or as a member of, a project management team working within an environment supporting PRINCE2. The Foundation qualification is also a pre-requisite for the Practitioner qualification.

  • Individuals who require a basic understanding of the ITIL framework and how it may be used toenhance the quality of IT service management within an organization.
  • IT professionals that are working within an organization that has adopted and adapted ITIL whoneed to be informed about and thereafter contribute to an ongoing service improvement programme.

This may include but is not limited to, IT professionals, business managers and business process owners.

Target Audience

This qualification is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers. It is also relevant to other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of projects, including: Project Board members (e.g. Senior Responsible Owners), Team Managers (e.g. Product Delivery Managers), Project Assurance (e.g. Business Change Analysts), Project Support (e.g. Project and Programme Office personnel) and operational line managers/staff.

ITIL® 2011 qualifications are not valid for a defined period and will not expire.
Foundation: You will need to score 26/40 (65%) to pass the foundation exam.
In this case, you can take part in another examination session, which is subject to a re-sit fee. This does not necessarily have to be at the same examination centre.There is no limit to the number of times you can retake the examination.
